Obama’s  Inauguration: Bigger than the super Bowl

By Miriam Ventura

The  hundred-year-old  man gave thanks to god, because the lord permitted him to see a black

man in the white house. This man, of the black race, said this, with tears in his eyes. His words and his tears are a prelude of the expectations of this Nation for Obama.

The American Television showed all the profiles of the forty-fourth president. Segments of the him painting walls, walking, talking, greeting citizens, in the majority of these segments Obama was dressed more closely to the people.

Seeing the senior man so emotional moved me. At least to give God thanks for having a black president, of all the espectatives around Obama is the most sincere, with and in this espectative, we all agree.

Many think that a New Era of the American dream will begin with Obama. I wish to agree. Perhaps the closest is to see this moment like a necessary process.

Maybe it would be better to look at this in a calm and tranquil way. Oh Man! .Everybody’s ready for this inauguration… It’s even worse than the Super Bowl! ,from the average Joe next door passing to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and the poet  Derek Walcott  de Forty Acres

The tumults, like the people who and think only a certain  way,  are dangerous. That is why it is good that a string of security  is put around Obama.Chevere!. That access hollywood is giving progressive music, legendary figures. Martin Luther king Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream‘.

This is a historic moment for American nation and its ethnic components. I also have dream that I prefer to live it in the grades. Dreaming a little while with eyes open and closed. I will let go of certain points of Obama that makes me anxious in my condition as an imnigrant, diaspora, transnational and/or my exiled condition, and that makes anxious also -why not?-, to the progressive sector of the black ghetto.

Now I want to think of the coincidences of this inauguration and the one that Franklin Delano Roosevelt had.

Two styles of recessions, two presidents with charisma. One nation once again in crisis. And one population that once played all of its cards in one last hope(Roosevelt), just like it is played today with Obama.  Being aware of this has just occurred to me because the differences and coincidences are well marked. The war operates in various directions, we know it with Roosevelt, who in the beginning did not want to enter   the World War II, but he still entered, so we know how the  American people felt their moral and heroism, this alter-ego of the Americans  confirmed the benefits  to Roosevelt government in the war was not only economical.

We know  it with Bush in the Iraq War (intervention), also we know it  with  the Clinton’s in the Gulf War.  In all of this panorama it matters much what is a war. Because nor Bush  nor the Clinton’s did not have, the advantage of Roosevelt in terms of the moral profile of the  people.

From  this perspective the election of Barack Obama is already a victory  in  the War against racism, ( lets continue talking about war), it is in this perspective  the subtle war, the African-American community understands, it is a  valid reason  to celebrate, but  at this point  it does not begin  nor  all is finished, one has to wait  calmly, that a lot of things needs to become clear because  the racial binarism   is not the only war .Everybody knows Obama has many situations to resolve. The medias inform us the economic chaos of the Nation. So we all know it is not going to be easy.

For the moment I’ll stay with the hundred-year-old man tha gave thanks to God to allow him to live long enough to see a black man in the white house…

George Bush is not crazy

By Miriam Ventura

USA.- Many people these days calling him crazy, retarded, etc. I will not call him, Mister George Bus, such  because I understand and respect the concept of Health and words such as “retarded” …. Should not be used as .

George Bush, is just a man who’s arroganmce does not allow him to accept that he has lost the war and wants to pointlessly send more armerican troops to die, and to kill others. Iam not saying that he has etic, he does etic, but his is conservatistic and static.

I don’t turn on the t.v. to hear his expired voice any more, and call for the cellular phon of you dora today in subast, and many others think the some.

Bush is not crazy, he just felt that he had the war won but victory left from the palm of his hand and he can’t with stand the thought of losing even when he had already lost.

George Bush, like moving spinning(Trompo) top without  control,  is negociating with too many people at once : Friends and enemies and is getting in between of other fights. And Bush is also fighting against with his own allies. So if he’s fighting his allies and hi enemies then Bush is fighting with everyone with the same hostility as in the war.

Not long ago, a newspaper in England called The Independent on Sunday said the massive petroleum reserves of Iraq which is the third largest in the world –is at a point in which it can make a large scale explosion because of occident petroleum companies under a controversial law.
